RLA Program Facilitator

Welcome to the Remote Learning Academy!

I am Mrs. April Guidry, the Program Facilitator. I have spent the last 26 years working in St. Landry Parish schools and am dedicated to finding effective ways to support our students and teachers.

I have an undergraduate degree in Forest Management from LSU Baton Rouge and earned my Master of Arts in Teaching from Louisiana College as well as certifications in 1-5 Elementary Education, School Librarian, and Educational Leadership. My path in education began when I was recruited by my high school track coach, Principal William Duplechain, to teach elementary science at Port Barre High School. At the time, I thought it would be temporary employment, but the Good Lord knew better. Following that year, I spent four years teaching third grade math and science at Port Barre Elementary, sixteen years at Krotz Springs Elementary teaching fifth and sixth grade ELA and as the Learning Center teacher. Later, I served as the school librarian at Beau Chene High for two and a half years, and most recently, spent two and a half years as the administrator of Grand Prairie Elementary.

It was an honor to be named the 2026-2027 SLPSB Elementary Principal of the Year and a 2026-2027 Louisiana State Principal of the Year Semifinalist. I look forward to bringing these years of experience to our SLPSB online learners and staff this school year.
