Please be advised that all St. Landry Parish School Board schools and offices will be closed on Monday, January 26th, and Tuesday, January 27th, due to forecasted winter weather conditions. This decision was reached after consulting with the National Weather Service and the Office of Emergency Preparedness.
The safety of our students, staff, and families is our top priority. All after-school activities, practices, and school or district-related events scheduled for these days are also canceled.
We encourage everyone to stay indoors, keep warm, and stay safe for the duration of this winter weather event. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates regarding Wednesday’s schedule through our standard communication channels.

GCES students will celebrate the 100th day of school on Monday, January 26, 2026. Students may dress up as if they're 100 years old OR they may wear a 100th day shirt with uniform pants.

The Steve Carter Education Program provides $1,500 vouchers to families of eligible K-12 public school students per school year. These digital vouchers are used to purchase high-quality literacy and math tutoring.

Report Card Information: students whose parents did not attend open house will receive their 2nd 9 weeks report cards today.

Arnaudville Middle School invites all GCES students and staff to their Family Engagement Night Thursday at 5:30 pm. Staff and students who attend will receive a January jean day pass. There will be hot coco, a book fair, and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Clause. Hope to see you there!

Dress Code Adjustments for Cold Weather: December 15th-16th
Due to the forecast of extremely cold weather from Monday, December 15th, to Tuesday, December 16th, please be aware of the following adjustments to the student dress code:
Outerwear: As per current policy, students should wear school-appropriate jackets or sweatshirts, as long as they are hoodless. Hoodies are permitted for students in grades pre-k through 4 only.
Bottoms: School-appropriate jeans, joggers, or sweatpants are allowed. *No pajamas
Headwear: Knit caps, earmuffs, and beanies are encouraged for warmth. However, these must be removed once inside the school building.
Footwear: Regular school shoes are required at all times.
Layering: We strongly encourage layering clothing to ensure students stay warm.
Please make sure these guidelines are followed to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for all students.
* This is only for the date range listed. We will let you know when these cold-weather adjustments are applicable for future occurrences.
