North Central High School proudly welcomes Mr. Kyle Sylvester as its new principal, bringing with him a wealth of experience, a heart for students, and a deep-rooted connection to the Washington Community.
Mr.Sylvester has dedicated his professional career to serving the students and families of St. Landry Parish. For 16 years, he taught Math at Washington Elementary School, where he also served two of those years as Administrative Assistant. His commitment to academic growth and leadership later led him to the Center for Academic Programs, where he worked closely with at-risk students across grades 4–12. This district-level role equipped him with the tools and insight necessary to meet students where they are and help them achieve success.
After his tenure at the Center, Mr.Sylvester returned to Washington Elementary to serve as Principal. When the school closed, he was given the opportunity to join the North Central Hurricanes Family—a role he embraces with great pride and enthusiasm.
“I’m looking forward to establishing an atmosphere of academic excellence and a climate of learning, engagement, and growth, with the success of each individual student in mind,” said Mr.Sylvester.
Mr. Sylvester brings a well-rounded perspective to leadership. Beyond the classroom and office, he has served as a middle school basketball coach and athletic director, participated in numerous school committees, and remains an active leader in the community as a local pastor. His past experiences as a student leader—drum major of his high school band and a high school athlete—help him relate to the students he now serves.
With a deep sense of gratitude and excitement, Mr. Sylvester is ready to lead the Hurricanes to new heights.
“Expecting great things ahead! GO CANES!”
